AAC Summer Camp FAQs

Why sign up?

AAC Summer Camp is an great opportunity for your child to meet and build relationships with other AAC users while working on their communication skills. Our SLPs are experienced and specialize in AAC therapy. We will target important skills such as asking and answering questions, commenting and participating, and socializing with friends.

How does camp work?

Groups are made up of students, each with an adult caregiver or communication partner, and qualified specialist AAC SLPs. Activities are designed to engage students and support communication partners. Children have fun using their AAC to communicate with peers while adults learn key strategies for helping their child at home.

When and where is camp?

We offer two options: School age children participate in a one-week camp, Monday - Friday 8:30 - 9:30, June 22-26 while older students can join our hangouts on Saturday mornings 9:15 - 10:15 June 20 - July 25. Each session is one hour long. We know how tight schedules are, and how overwhelmed parents may be at this time, so please get in touch if scheduling is an issue for you.

What equipment do I need?

Our summer camp is virtual and all online. All you need is internet access, video and microphone capability, your child, a caregiver, and your child's AAC system!

How can I help my child participate?

Every child will need an adult caregiver to participate with them in sessions so that they can be redirected and supported if they have trouble paying attention. We hope that our activities and strategies will keep all group members eager to join in and communicate.

How much does AAC camp cost?

AAC camp is $250 for five sessions. Families can request a superbill that you may be able to submit to your insurance company for out of network coverage.
